That’s Website Simple

August 5th, 2009 by Marketing Mediators LLC

After working with the Broad Ripple Farmers’ Market on their Facebook page and overall marketing strategy, it became clear that the website needed to be updated to deliver more information about the Market’s offerings.

The Marketing Goal was to have a website that showcases timely, valuable information relevant to the Broad Ripple Farmers’ Market clientele each and every week. This included the ability to easily update content and do so fast.

We Mediated by developing a new, simple (but valuable) web-site using a content management system, so that updates can be made in a timely manner. Also, we integrated Google Calendar, Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr so that the website automatically updates with the new, fresh content through those user-friendly mediums.

The Result is shown below with screen shots of the old and new website.

Did it work? The new design proved itself to be a huge success with 468 visits in just 10 days.

A Proper Farewell

August 2nd, 2009 by Marketing Mediators LLC

Prologue: We were introduced to The Pink Lime, an Indianapolis retail store targeting “stylish women” with licensing rights to several name brands including: Lilly Pulitzer, at the end of their life cycle.  However, we were still able to significantly help with their immediate marketing need and fast.  The Pink Lime had made the decision to close their store in one week and asked us for help on how to spread the word.

Marketing Need: In the final week they were open, the Pink Lime wanted to: sell their entire inventory, sell all of their store fixtures, but most importantly they wanted to celebrate their time being in business with loyal customers, family and friends.  They needed a way to: make people aware of their future, sell their discounted items during the final week, sell their fixtures, and add something extra to entice people to visit their store during that final week.

Our Approach: Create an in-store celebration on The Pink Lime’s last official day of being open for business with rock-bottom prices, refreshments, music, and gifts donated by other local retailers that would be raffled off to visiting customers.  It was a party to celebrate The Pink Lime’s four years in business.  The donated gifts from nearby retailers that were being raffled off, and the drastically reduced prices gave customers incentive to visit the store and kept them there for some time as they waited to see if they had won.  While they were waiting they would see limited inventory items disappear and would be forced to act fast.  In regards to the fixtures, we decided to post those to Craig’s List along with pictures and the copy we wrote.

Proof: We drafted and distributed the following press release to nearby businesses and collected their generous donations of gift cards and other incentives to raffle off.  We also wrote the copy and uploaded the pictures for several different Craig’s List posts for the in-store fixtures.

The Pink Lime: Press Release

Summary: The in-store event was a huge success with over 90% of the remaining inventory being sold and The Pink Lime was able to give a final nod of appreciation to its loyal customers with the chance to win a gift from a nearby retailer.  All of the fixtures that we posted to Craig’s List sold almost instantaneously (after a clarifying phone call or two) and The Pink Lime was given what it deserved-a proper farewell.

Just S.W.O.T. It

July 11th, 2009 by Marketing Mediators LLC

Marketing Need: Positioning in a saturated industry can be somewhat difficult due to the similarities among it’s inhabitants.  Transversely, it can be the most rewarding step towards effective marketing communication once it is determined.  We were charged with the task of helping Boatman Geller, originating as a producer of just Fine Stationery then adding Home, and Gift Items, determine their position in the marketplace.

In an effort to differentiate themselves, they needed help deciding how to effectively communicate all of their product offerings to current and potential customers, and dealers including:  Home-Based, Retail, and Online Dealers.  They were currently defined only for their Fine Stationery offerings, but have plenty more to offer existing and new customers and clients.

Project Brief: Implement a simple change to effectively communicate to existing and potential customers that Boatman Geller offers more than just Fine Stationery.

Outcome:

Summary: After conducting a S.W.O.T. (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) Analysis, this is one of the improvements we were able to make.  The Boatman Geller logo is on all packaging and correspondence, so this simple logo modification has been cost-effectively implemented as materials run out.  In fact, this slight verbiage change proved to be the catalyst for improving both written and verbal communication about what it is Boatman Geller does and what they offer.
